About me

Research

  • My research focuses on multimorbidity, complex health trajectories, and the multidimensional care needs of older adults, with the aim of informing more integrated and person-centered health and social care systems.

My work is carried out through national and international interdisciplinary collaborations that bring together epidemiology and public health, geriatric medicine, dementia research, health services research, and social care perspectives. I work extensively with large longitudinal datasets, national registers, and advanced epidemiological methods to understand how patterns of disease, functional decline, and social and care-related factors interact over the aging process.

For more information about our research and funded projects, please visit our research group's website: Multidimensional Health in Old Age.

Teaching

  • My pedagogical activities include supervision of several PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, international visiting students, as well as master’s and undergraduate students. I coordinate the biannual PhD course “Application of Epidemiological Methods in Aging Research” within the Neuroscience and Epidemiology doctoral programs at Karolinska Institutet, and the freestanding course “Aging and Age-Related Disorders from a Biological, Epidemiological and Clinical Perspective”. I also lecture in several courses on geriatric epidemiology at the undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels, including within the Master’s Programme in Public Health Sciences at Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University and the Psychology Programme at Karolinska Institutet.
