Karin Högstedt
About me
I am a doctoral student at the Division of Occupational Therapy, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet. I am part of the Re@home research program, focusing on the evaluation of home rehabilitation for older adults, and of the research groups Health in Everyday Life (HELD) and Rehabilitation, Collaboration and Aging. I am also affiliated with the Doctoral School in Health Care Sciences (FiH) and the Swedish National Graduate School on Ageing and Health (SWEAH). I have a professional background as a physiotherapist in elderly care and as a project manager at a research and development unit specializing in the advancement of elderly care.
Research
My research interests include health promotion, prevention, and rehabilitation, with a particular focus on strengthening resources and collaboration among key stakeholders—patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and organizational leaders. My doctoral project, situated within the Re@home program, investigates mechanisms within home rehabilitation that enhance older adults’ quality of life and independence in daily activities. More information about the Re@home can be found here: här: https://ki.se/en/nvs/rehome-evaluation-of-home-rehabilitation-for-older-people
