Leo Ziegel
About me
Licensed physician and independent postdoc, with clinical work experience in emergency addiction psychiatry and a PhD on mental health/illness and its social determinants in Uganda. Participating in a postdoc program in collective health at Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Ecuador). Current research projects focus on how different social processes shape mental health and illness, including alcohol and drug use. Further, I have a special interest in how to blend quantitative and qualitative approaches in science.
Ongoing projects:
* Collaborations between traditional/faith healers and psychiatry in Uganda to improve care for people with severe mental illness
* A population mental health survey in southwestern Tanzania
* Sexual and reproductive health of female drug users and sex workers in Myanmar
* Post-return experiences and coping strategies of women trafficked from ZimbabwePrevious projects:
