Here you will find detailed information on how to import mice to KI Campus Solna.

Quarantine

The central quarantine unit is the Import Portal located in Wallenberg animal facility at Comparative Medicine. The Import Portal  offers housing of the animal models with uncertain health-status during quarantine as well a prior to re-derivation (pathogen elimination through embryo transfer) and cryo-preservation.

Exporting animals

For the export of animal products inside and outside the EU, use the following website Trading with products from animals with countries outside and inside the EU - Jordbruksverket.se

 For the export of frozen sperm or embryos, please contact the Karolinska Centre for Transgene Technology (KCTT) at kctt-cryo@km.ki.se

 For the export of live laboratory animals, please contact the veterinary group at vet@km.ki.se

Transport of animals

You can get help transporting animals on campus through the Technical support and service unit at Comparative Medicine.

There are regularly scheduled transports between Comparative Medicine facilities at KI Campus Solna which are free of charge:

Tuesdays

• From all animal facilities to KM-F
• From KM-W to KM-A

Thursdays

• From KM-W to KM-B
• From KM-A to KM-B

All transports that are requested outside of the regular schedule are associated with a fee.

Please consult your designated facility veterinarian when you have questions regarding the regulatory framework that controls the transport of animals.
